2014 USTFCCCA Convention Update: Strength and Conditioning TFA Course

2014 USTFCCCA Convention Update: Strength and Conditioning TFA Course

NEW ORLEANS – Coaches attending the annual U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, who are looking to expand their strength and conditioning knowledge should plan to stick around in the Grand Canyon State for at least one day after the formal conclusion of the Convention.

The USTFCCCA Track & Field Academy will host the two-day "310: Strength and Conditioning" course at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa beginning Thursday, December 18, following Divisional voting sessions and concluding Friday, December 19 – marking the first time the Academy has hosted a post-Convention course.

This is a detailed course covering all aspects of strength training, and other key athletic qualities. Successful completion of the course and its evaluations grants the Track & Field Academy’s Strength and Conditioning Certification.

Coaches at all levels who wish to become certified by the USTFCCCA in this area will benefit from this course, as will strength and conditioning coaches who desire more advanced knowledge in the development of specific programs for track & field and cross country.

Among the topics covered are the physiology of strength training, designing several types of strength training programs, technique, and safety. A full breakdown of the course can be found here.

Registration for this course is separate from the registration for the USTFCCCA Convention itself. The cost of the course is $195 when registering at least 10 days prior. Late or on-site registration is $225.

The USTFCCCA Track & Field Academy is also hosting a series of courses prior to the beginning of the USTFCCCA Convention from December 13 through December 15. A full list of those courses – which are also separate from Convention registration – can be found here.
