All-time bests in preliminary rounds. The NCAA does not keep officially keep records or bests from the preliminary rounds in their records books. In addition, even though they are “first rounds” of the national championships, the NCAA also does not consider marks from the preliminary rounds as meet records for the overall national championships. West Prelim All-Time Bests | East Prelim All-Time Bests

Format changes for 2015. In addition to the scheduling-format change for the final rounds there are a few other technical changes that have occured for the 2015 championships. In the preliminary round field events, only three attempts will be taken. In previous years, the top-16 after flights would advance to a round with three additional attempts — not so this year. Also, at the final site, the long jump, triple jump, and shot put flights will be contested simultantiously.
