Fehler, Campbell, Ruginski & Biswal Named NCAA DIII Championships Outstanding Performers
NEW ORLEANS – Luke Campbell (Salisbury), Jamie Ruginski (Southern Maine), Carly Fehler (UW-Eau Claire) and Divya Biswal (St. Lawrence) were named Outstanding Performers of the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Each year the USTFCCCA honors the Outstanding Performers of the Meet at both of the national Division III championships. Winners – a track winner and field winner for both genders – are determined using a formula that takes into account team points scored plus meet records (five additional points), Division III season-bests based on the converted qualifying lists (three points) and facility records (one point). Relay points are split equally between the four team members.
By those standards, the single most Outstanding Performer of the meet was Carly Fehler with a total of 31½ points. She won both the 100-meter and 200-meter national titles – the former in the meet record and the latter in a 2015 DIII-best time – and run a leg on the winning 4×100 relay. Her relay broke the facility record at St. Lawrence.
Not far behind was Luke Campbell with 25¾ points. He claimed both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles national titles, running a 2015 DIII-best time and facility record in the latter. He also ran a leg of the fifth-place 4×400 relay and sixth-place 4×100.
Both Ruginski and Biswal earned their respective awards with wins in the triple jump and runner-up finishes in the long jump for 18 points apiece to earn top honors in the field.
