CONVENTION UPDATE: Track & Field Academy Courses
NEW ORLEANS – Whether you are a newcomer to coaching track & field or a long-time veteran looking to push the boundaries of your knowledge, the Track & Field Academy has offerings for everyone at the 2016 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention in Orlando, Florida, this December.
Nine classes – including such popular courses as the “310: Strength & Conditioning Coach Certification,” the “201: Track & Field Technical Certification,” and the “Master’s Endorsement Program” for several disciplines – will be taught at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes Resort & Spa by some of the world’s best coaches and clinicians.
Please note that enrollment in Track & Field Academy courses at the USTFCCCA Convention is a separate process and a separate cost from the Convention registration.
Six of the nine courses take place on December 12 and 13 – which is prior to and/or on the official December 13 start date of the USTFCCCA Convention. The Convention lasts through Friday, December 16.
Three courses, including the “Strength & Conditioning Coach Certification” and the “Track & Field Technical Certification” offerings, will take place December 17-18.

201. T&F Technical Certification
Dec. 17 (9am – 8pm) & Dec. 18 (8am – 1pm) | $135*

A certification granting course covering training design and technical instruction in a variety of Track & Field event areas. Topics include training components, training design, technical instruction and teaching progressions in the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500/1600, 3K/3200, 5K, 10K, 100/110h, 300/400h, Glide SP, DT, JT, LJ, TJ, HJ, PV, 4×100, 4×200, 4×400.

202. T&F Program Management Certification

310. Strength & Conditioning Coach Certification

A detailed course covering all aspects of strength training, and other key athletic qualities. Successful completion of the course and its evaluations grants the Track & Field Academy’s Strength & Conditioning Certification. This course is open to anyone, and credit received for successfully completing the course is applicable to the Master’s Endorsement Program.

408. Sports Science for Speed/Power Events

A 12 hour course covering applicative science for sprint, hurdle, jump, and throw training programs. Topics include motor learning, speed/power physiology, biomechanics, musculoskeletal function, and growth and development.

409. Sports Science for Distance Events

A 12 hour course covering applicative science for middle distance, distance, racewalking, and cross country training programs. Topics include several physiology related issues, biomechanics, and growth and development.

A high level endorsement granting course that covers the coaching and preparation of hurdlers at all levels. Topics include athlete management, training design and administration, competition management, technical issues and instruction, and sports sciences related to the 55H, 60H, 100H, 110H, 300H, and 400H. (15 Hours) Mentorship requirement attached.
Prerequisites to take the Course: Courses 302, and three of the following: 401, 403, 405, 406, 407 or 310, 408. Prerequisites for Certification: 6 Years formal Coaching Experience, Courses 302, 401, 403, 405, 406, 407 or 310, 408.

Topics include athlete management, training design and administration, competition management, technical issues and instruction, and sports sciences related to the Hammer Throw. Prerequisites to take the Course: Courses 304, and three of the following: 401, 403, 405, 406, 407 or 310, 408. Prerequisites for Certification: 6 Years formal Coaching Experience, Courses 304, 401, 403, 405, 406, 407 or 310, 408.
