Lisa Koll, Phoebe Wright Added to The Bowerman Watch List for First Time

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday the second update of the official watch list for The Bowerman as selected by The Bowerman Women’s Watch Committee.  Joining the watch list for the first time is Iowa State’s Lisa Koll and Tennessee’s Phoebe Wright.

The 10 listed represent eight collegiate-leading marks from the 2010 season and three national records.

The Bowerman Advisory Board appointed four of its members to comprise The Bowerman Men’s Watch Committee and another four of its members to make up The Bowerman Women’s Watch Committee. The committee will release its next update, following the NCAA Indoor Championships, on Wednesday, March 17.

The three men and three women finalists will be named on July 13.

Beard clocked an all-conditions collegiate-leading 51.15 over 400 meters in winning the Big 12 title in the event for the third-straight year … the 51.15 is the fastest time ever by an American on an oversized track and the seventh-best in the World … Beard scored 20½ at the Big 12 Championships, which also included a second-place showing in the 200m and as anchor of the Big 12 Champ 4×400 team, helping the Aggies to their fourth-straight conference title … The 23.18, 200m clocking from the Big 12 meet places her No. 5 in the NCAA … 4×400-meter relay team is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA.

Queen Harrison, Sr., Virginia Tech,

Harrison is the collegiate leader in the 60-meter hurdles, having clocked a 7.94 for a personal best and conference crown at last weekend’s ACC Championships … The 7.94 also places Harrison among the top 10 in the world in 2010 and ranks among the collegiate all-time top-10 … Harrison was a double winner at the ACCs, capturing victory in the 400 meters with a personal-best 53.06 time, which ranks No. 9 in the NCAA this season.

Kylie Hutson, Sr., Indiana State,
Pole Vault, Terre Haute, Ind., Terre Haute North HS

Hutson leaped to a collegiate-leading clearance of 14-8¼ (4.48m) to become the first Missouri Valley pole vaulter to win four-straight conference crowns in the event … Hutson is now No. 5 on the all-time indoor collegiate list with the vault … Hutson is undefeated in the event this season, and has cleared more than 14 feet on four occasions.

Mariam Kevkhisvili, Sr., Florida,
Throws, Tbilisi, Georgia, Varketili Secondary

Kevkhisvili has the collegiate lead in the women’s shot put from a 60-10¾ (18.56m) performance at Virginia Tech from February … The distance is also a national record for her home country of the Republic of Georgia and ties her as the third-best performer all-time in the collegiate ranks … The Gator is undefeated this season and has won 12 competitions in a row, dating back to 2008 … At the SEC Championships, Kevkhisvili broke her own SEC meet record in winning the conference crown for the second-straight year.

Koll claimed double Big 12 Championship titles and double collegiate-leading marks last weekend in Ames … Combining times on 200 meter and oversized tracks, Koll would be the fifth-best collegiate performer all-time in the 5000m and sixth-best all-time in the 3000m from times recorded at the Big 12 meet.

Lucas won her third-straight Big 12 title at 200 meters with a 23.12 clocking last weekend … Her 23.06 clocking from January ranks No. 2 in the NCAA this season.

Shara Proctor, Sr., Florida,

Proctor claimed national records for her home country of Anguilla, an island nation in the Lesser Antillies of the Caribbean … Proctor claimed Florida’s first indoor long jump SEC title since 1997 with a 21-2¾ (6.47m) performance … Proctor is currently ranked No. 2 in the NCAA with both the long jump and the triple jump.

Brianne Theisen, Jr., Oregon,
Combined Events, Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Humboldt Collegiate Institute

Theisen is the collegiate leader in the pentathlon, having scored 4,198 points at the Texas A&M Challenge in January … Among the pentathlon’s five events, Theisen has claimed personal best with the 60-meter hurdles and shot put this season … Theisen finished third in the 60-meter hurdles at the MSPF Championships … Theisen is the Canadian-leader in the pentathlon as well.

Kim Williams, Jr., Florida State,
Jumps, Kingston, Jamaica, Vere Technical

Williams notched a new collegiate-leading triple jump of 46-8¼ (14.24m) in winning the ACC title … The mark is also a national leader for Jamaica … Williams was second at the ACC meet in the long jump and ranks in a tie at No. 5 in the NCAA in that event.

Phoebe Wright, Sr., Tennessee,
Mid-Distance, Signal Mountain, Tenn., Red Bank HS

Wright has been the collegiate leader in the 800 meter since her 2:04.00 run in late January … Ever since, Wright has bested her that time twice, clocking a 2:02.84 at Texas A&M in mid-February and running her recent best of 2:01.47 in winning the SEC title for the second-straight time … Only Tennessee’s Nicole Cook (2:00.75) has had a faster indoor run among collegians all-time … Shortly after winning the SEC 800m crown, Wright lead-off her SEC Champ DMR team to a 3:29.58, 1200-meter split.
