Twitter Reacts To Lindon Victor’s Collegiate Decathlon Record

NEW ORLEANS – All eyes were on the clock on Thursday.

If Lindon Victor crossed the finish line in the 1500-meter run before the digits hit 4:50.02, he would break Trey Hardee’s collegiate decathlon record that was set nearly 11 years earlier.

Victor completed the 10th and final event of the decathlon with room to spare. The Texas A&M senior broke the tape in 4:48.89, which added 625 points to his total and gave him the record.

News of Victor’s performance quickly spread and many took to Twitter to share their congratulations.

Texas A&M let the world know it added to its haul of current collegiate records.

Hardee, the former record holder, was quick to offer his support of Victor long before the standard fell.

That tweet came out right after Victor hurled the discus 53.00m (173-11) to eclipse Hardee’s record pace by 73 points.

And Victor’s teammate Fred Kerley, who like Victor is on The Bowerman Award Watch List, only needed emojis to get his point across.
