NEW ORLEANS —Movers and shakers upset the status quo in the 4th installment of the NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Team Rankings, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday, as every spot in the top-25 underneath 1st-place Chico State saw movement from a week ago.
Angelo State made arguably the biggest jump on the week, moving up 9 spots to 2nd place, while Adams State (5th) and West Texas A&M (9th) both rose in the rankings.

Just on the outside of the top-10 is Missouri Southern, who made a 15-spot leap into 11th place for its highest ranking on the season. Grand Valley State (13th) and Pittsburg State (15th) also saw considerable movement towards the top.
It was “home, sweet, home” for Angelo State this past weekend as the Rams got a big boost in the rankings thanks to its 4×100 relay team and Kenneth Turner at their home meet, the David Noble Relays. The quartet of relay runners posted the top time in the 4×100 on the season with a time of 40.37 while Turner notched a wind-aided 100 meter time of 10.25 to lead all of NCAA Division II. Turner also posted the 5th-fastest time in the nation in the 200 meters with a time of 21.08.
Adams State’s Ian Kerr posted the 4th-best 200 meter time of 21.07 at the WT Classic and Multi, while Samuel Reid’s shot put mark of 17.79m (58-4½) – also 4th in NCAA Division II – allowed the Grizzlies to move up to the top-5 for the first time on the year.
West Texas A&M’s highest ranking since the 7th week of the 2015 season can be attributed to the performances of Paolo Lazaric, Abraham Seaneke and Lachie Calvert at their home meet. Lazaric’s high jump mark of 2.16m (7-1) ranks 2nd in NCAA Division II this year, while Calvert’s decathlon point total (6867) and Seaneke’s triple jump mark (15.35m/50-4½) rank 7th and 8th, respectively, on the year.
