NOTE: Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for rankings. Please check your membership status HERE.
NEW ORLEANS – The NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Team Computer Rankings continue to evolve as the season progresses.
From the Week 1 rankings to the Week 2 rankings, which were released today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), only four of the top-25 teams remained in place. Those four teams include the top-3 programs in the nation – No. 1 Washington (Mo.), No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, No. 3 Williams (all of whom are the only teams with more than 100 points) – and No. 21 Carthage.

Looking elsewhere, MIT and Nebraska Wesleyan both moved up one spot after UW-La Crosse fell two. The Engineers went from No. 5 to No. 4, while the Prairie Wolves check in at No. 5 after gaining 5.44 points this past week.
You don’t start to see much major movement until you get to No. 11 and No. 14, where Oberlin and St. Norbert take up residence. The former jumped from No. 15 to No. 11 after Naeisha McClain notched a top-10 mark in the shot put (14.00m/45-11¼). The latter soared from No. 24 to No. 14 following a stellar mark by Samantha Morateck in the high jump (2nd in the USTFCCCA Event Rankings, 1.73m (5-8)).

No team had more top marks recorded this week than Redlands, which is evident by its seven-spot leap from Week 1 to Week 2. Alison Smith made sure the Bulldogs would be right in the thick of the rankings after her performance in the heptathlon. Smith put up a total of 4799 points, which is No. 1 in the nation and during which included the nation’s top mark in the 110 hurdles (14.12).
All eyes are on the final six weeks of the regular season in anticipation of the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio. Another important date to remember is May 18, which is the final qualifying day in NCAA DIII.
Be sure to check back throughout the season as we bring you updated rankings and more.
