MEET RECAP: Harper College Sweeps NJCAA DIII Cross Country Titles
Harper College swept the 2017 NJCAA Division III Cross Country titles this past weekend in Westfield, Massachusetts.
The men’s team notched a 16-point victory over runner-up Suffolk (N.Y.), while the women romped to a 58-point win over runner-up Oxford College of Emory University.
Individual titles went to Onondaga (N.Y.)’s Abshir Yerow, who won the men’s race in 26:24.8 and Chyanna Bernier of Herkimer (N.Y.), the women’s winner in 18:43.7.
Harper College’s men were one of two teams to put three runners inside the top-15 (Kingsborough (N.Y.) was the other). The difference for the Hawks was that the rest of their lineup came through in a big way: 25-26-27-28.
The women from Harper College barely missed the meet scoring record of 22 points. The Hawks put six of their seven runners in the top-10, led by Misbah Baig’s third-place effort.
