

2019 NJCAA DI Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 4
NEW ORLEANS – The Cloud County (Kan.) CC men and Iowa Central CC women continued their season-long occupation of the No. 1 spots in the NJCAA Division I Cross Country National Polls after regionals weekend.
The rest of top-5 showed a little jostling for position in the season’s second-to-last poll, as next week’s unveiling will be the final installment before the 2019 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 9, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Cloud County (Kan.) CC continued its historical season, winning its first-ever Region VI championship with 35 points over a field containing seven teams in this week’s poll – four in the top-10. The T-Birds have a six-man team, and each runner finished in the top-15.
Iowa Central CC moved back up to No. 2 after winning Region XI with an impressive 23 points over five other nationally ranked teams. The Tritons were everywhere, placing all seven in the top-9, with two non-scorers following in 10th and 13th.
El Paso CC is No. 3 after winning Region V with 20 points on the strength of a 1-2-3-4 finish – three of those runners were in last year’s national top-10.
Defending national champion Central Arizona remains at No. 4 after winning Region I with 22 points as their top-3 led the field.
Tieing for No. 5 are Southern Idaho, which did not have a regional, and Iowa Western CC, runner-up in Region XI.

Iowa Central CC may have put together its best race of the season in winning Region XI with 20 points as all seven runners finished in the top-10. The Tritons, who are aiming for a three-peat at nationals, were led by Winrose Chesang, who won by 11 seconds over Faith Chepengat of Iowa Western CC in a battle of national stars.
Making the biggest move this week was Central Arizona, up four spots to No. 2. That’s the highest the Vaqueras – who won Region I with 24 points – have rated since finishing the 2017 season as national runner-up.
South Plains (Texas) moved up a place to No. 3 after winning the competitive Region V with 35 points over two other teams in the national top-8.
Southern Idaho and Monroe (N.Y.) round out the top-5 by tieing for No. 4. Southern Idaho did not have a regional, while Monroe won Region XV with 20 points to reach its highest-ever position in the national poll.
