The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution’s finish at the NJCAA Championships.

In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the NJCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team’s finish at each NJCAA Championship in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 31st = 31 points) with the lowest total score for all three championships combined determining the award winner. Ties among schools split points for positions taken.

Men’s Story

A tight battle is upon two powerhouses as Iowa Central CC leads New Mexico JC, 6 to 6.5 in POY points. The Tritons were second at the cross country championships in November and followed with a a fourth-place finish in the indoor track & field championships earlier this month. The T-Birds countered with a fifth in cross country and a team title indoors.

Close behind is Colby (Kan.) CC with 8.5 POY points, followed by Paradise Valley (Ariz.) CC (13.5) and Iowa Western CC (17). Colby (DI) and Paradise Valley (DII) each earned top points for winning their respective cross country titles.

Women’s Story

A three-way tie follows as Cloud County (Kan.) CC, Iowa Central CC and Mesa (Ariz.) CC are knotted at 11 POY points. Rounding out the top-5 is Iowa Western CC (15).
