2024 NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 8
NEW ORLEANS – Two-time defending champion British Columbia is No. 1 in the Week 8 edition of the 2024 NAIA Women’s Outdoor National Track & Field Rating Index, which was released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Only marks from the 2024 outdoor track & field season have been used in this objective compilation. This is the final national TFRI of the year as the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships run next Wednesday-Friday at the Indiana Wesleyan Track Complex in Marion, Indiana.

British Columbia is the two-time reigning champion, but they’ve won three straight in meets that they’ve competed in dating back to 2019 after missing the 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 (the 2020 meet was canceled). The Thunderbirds are dominant again, owning 24 top-10 marks and leading the nation in six events (plus six more at No. 2). Leading for UBC are Holly MacGillivray in the 1500 (4:16.74), Kiana Gibson in the steeplechase (9:51.28), Kyla Becker in the 5000 (16:19.25), Olivia Lundman in the 5000 racewalk (23:48.92), Sonya Urbanowicz in the pole vault (4.01m/13-1¾) and Rebecca Dutchak in the heptathlon (5109).
No. 2 for the seventh-straight week is William Carey (Miss.), last year’s runner-up. The Crusaders have 15 top-10 marks with two national leaders: Salieci Myles in the 100 hurdles (13.24w) and Fegor Clifford in the triple jump (12.46mw/40-10½w).
Indiana Tech is No. 3 for the fifth-straight week. The Warriors – who tied for fourth last year and won their most recent of three titles in 2021 – have eight top-10 marks including three national leaders: Soyinne Grenyion in the 200 (23.11), Lisa Voyles in the 800 (2:07.94) and the 4×100 relay (45.02).
Holding steady at No. 4 is Cumberland (Tenn.). The Phoenix were seventh last year and enter this with two national leaders among their eight top-10 marks: Praise Idamadudu in the 400 (52.46) and Daveina Watson in the shot put (15.22m/49-11¼).
No. 5 Concordia (Neb.) is seeking a return to a top-5 finish. The Bulldogs – just 23rd last year after placing fourth and third the previous two years – have seven top-10 marks, with their leading entrant being its 4×400 relay team (rated No. 4 at 3:48.16). Don’t count out pole vaulter Josie Puelz, who has five career NAIA titles in the event (three indoor, two outdoor).
Rounding out the top-10 teams in the National TFRI are No. 6 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), No. 7 Saint Mary (Kan.), No. 8 The Master’s (Calif.), No. 9 Cumberlands (Ky.) and No. 10 Dickinson State (N.D.).
