USTFCCCA awards for NJCAA Indoor Track & Field include the honoring of the season’s top performing athletes and coaches on a regional and national scope.
Only athletes and coaches from NJCAA Track & Field Coaches Association associations are eligible for awards. In addition, only member coaches may vote for regional and national athlete and coach of the year awards.
Coaches from each USTFCCCA region will vote to name a winner in each of the following categories for student-athletes:
- Men’s Track Athlete of the Year
- Men’s Field Athlete of the Year (combined event athletes are considered field-event athletes)
- Women’s Track Athlete of the Year
- Women’s Field Athlete of the Year (combined event athletes are considered field-event athletes)
Coaches from each USTFCCCA region will also vote to name a winner in each of the following category for their peers (a nominee’s gender need not match that of the award — i.e., a male can be nominated for and win awards for coaching a women’s team and vice versa):
- Men’s Coach of the Year (best program director/head coach of a men’s team)
- Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year (best assistant coach of a men’s team)
- Women’s Coach of the Year (best program director/head coach of a women’s team)
- Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year (best assistant coach of a women’s team)
Following the national championships, the national office will prepare the ballot. The possible selections will include all regional winners, write-ins, and:
- Track Athlete of the Year: Non-regional winners that deliver outstanding performances at the national championships (e.g., an athlete that scores more than 16 points on the track and/or breaks a championships and/or collegiate record).
- Field Athlete of the Year: Non-regional winners that deliver outstanding performances at the national championships (e.g., an athlete that scores more than 16 points in the field and/or breaks a championships and/or collegiate record).
- Coach of the Year: The coaches of the top-four finishing teams at the national championships.
- Assistant Coach of the Year: One staff member optionally nominated by the head coach of each of the top four finishing teams.
All-America status is awarded to finishers 1-8 (individual events and relays) in each event at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Only those who earn any portion of a team point earn All-America status.
- Eligibility: Programs must be in good membership standing with the NJCAA Track & Field Coaches Association in order for their student-athletes to be eligible for this award.
