Adrian “Tripp” Piperi was named the NCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Field Athlete of the Year. Piperi, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.868, won the shot put title at the 2022 NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a heave of 21.52m (70-7¼). That mark came on his first attempt of the competition. This is the first time that an athlete from Texas has been named the National Scholar Field Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season.
