Charles Hicks, Stanford: 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Year

Charles Hicks was a model of consistency this season and that steadfast effort resulted in a national title – and being named NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Year. Hicks, who hails from Jacksonville, Florida, won the individual title at the 2022 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships after he traversed the 10k tract in 28:43.6 and set a Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course record in the process. He never finished outside of the top-3 this season and topped the podium at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships just a few weeks earlier. Hicks, who finished third at both the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and the West Region Championships, is the first Stanford athlete, regardless of gender, to be named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Year.
