Matt Jones was named the National Women’s Coach of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Jones, in his ninth year directing the Loras track & field program, guided the Duhawks to their third consecutive national team title with a dramatic victory at the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Loras led through 19 events, but a swing in the 20th dropped Jones’ team to second. The Duhawks wouldn’t stay there for long, as they won the 4×400 relay and captured the national championship. Overall, Loras scored points in eight different events in Geneva, Ohio, which included a sweep of the relays. During the regular season, the Duhawks turned in NCAA DIII all-time marks in both the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters and broke seven school records.
