Matt Stewart was named the National Women’s Coach of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season. Stewart, in his 12th year at West Texas A&M, led the Lady Buffs to a national team title at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships with 77 points. Under Stewart’s guidance, the Lady Buffs had four national champions and 15 All-Americans. West Texas A&M also won its second team title in a row at the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships behind 10 event champions. The Lady Buffs broke eight school records this year.
