QA₂ Max PODCAST: Marquis Dendy of Florida & 2015 Indoor T&F Jumps Preview
Marquis Dendy has had one of the most variegated careers of any NCAA jumper ever – some of the highest highs and the lowest lows. In 2013, he won the long jump at indoor nationals, then failed to make it out of the East Prelims outdoors, then qualified for the world championship in Moscow that summer—where he landed awkwardly and tore his labrum.
When recovering from injury in 2014, his season played out in almost the exact opposite fashion. He finished 16th at indoor nationals in the long jump and didn’t qualify in the triple. Three months later in Eugene, he pulled off the greatest jump double of the decade, becoming the first male winner of the long and triple jump national championships since 2002.
He joined us on the podcast to talk about where he’s been, where he’s going, and fellow Delawarian Joe Biden.
Afterward, we previewed the 2015 season in jumps. That segment ends in a particularly bitter disagreement about the women’s pole vault.
