2015 Division II Cross Country Preseason All-Name Team
Earlier in the week we released our Division I Cross Country Preseason All-Name Team.
Then on Thursday we continued the fun and published our Division III Preseason All-Name Team.
Don’t think for a second that we forgot about Division II.
Without further ado, here is our 2015 Division II Cross Country Preseason All-Name Team.
Geoffrey Kipchumba, West Texas A&M
That last name is just fun to say. Kipchumba was West Texas A&M’s top finisher at last year’s NCAA meet (46th) and he’ll look to improve on that as a sophomore.
Niclas Bez, Saint Leo
Can we buy a few vowels or spin again for another consonant? Bez is likely to be one of seven runners who competed at last year’s NCAA meet for Saint Leo to return to the team in 2015. Six of those returners are now either juniors or seniors, so experience is in Saint Leo’s corner.
Kansas Mackenzie, Simon Fraser
Mackenzie, who runs for the NCAA’s lone Canadian institution, shares the same first name with a Midwestern state despite also being from north of the border. She is one of four scoring athletes likely to return to Simon Fraser this season.
Siblings at Southern Indiana, Tampa and Union (Tenn.)
While these names won’t jump out at you, siblings run rampant at Southern Indiana, Tampa University and Union University. In fact, twins Johnnie and Josh Guy (Southern Indiana), Elaina and Claudia Cencello (Tampa) and Abby and Janey Berends (Union) could all make their way into the top 7 for their respective teams. Of note, the Berends also have a third member of their family on the team, sister Julia.
These were just some of the runners likely to return to those teams that competed at NCAAs last year. Did we forget any memorable names? Let us know.
