NCAA DII/DIII Weekend Preview: Roy Griak, Purple Valley Classic & More
NEW ORLEANS – While NCAA Division I certainly has a big weekend starting today – it’s the first day of at-large qualifying competition, after all – Divisions II and III are just as busy.
In Division II, the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday will have a significant impact on next week’s Regional Rankings and National Coaches’ Polls, particularly on the women’s side. No. 3 Adams State, No. 4 Minnesota Duluth and No. 6 Augustana (S.D.) will all be in action, though Adams State will be in the DI race. Four more nationally ranked teams from the Central and Midwest regions will also compete.
DII men’s competition is highlighted by top-10 matchups both at Griak between No. 5 Augustana (S.D.) and No. 10 UW-Parkside (No. 1 Adams State is in the DI race, as well), and at Stanford between No. 3 Chico State and No. 9 Cal Poly Pomona. No. 14 Simon Fraser will also join the fray in Palo Alto.
