What to Watch: Collegians in Day Eight of #Rio2016 T&F

NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday night, Ryan Crouser of Texas (USA) did a lot more than win the lone individual gold medal of these Rio Olympic Games by a 2016 collegian.

With a heave of 22.52m (73-10¾), he threw farther than any other man in Olympic history and moved to No. 5 on the all-time American performers list. For good measure, he also threw 22.26m (73-0½), 22.22m (72-10¾) and 21.93m (71-11½) – all of which would have netted him the gold medal.

More medals – gold or otherwise – may be in the offing for this year’s collegians, but they will all come from either the 4×100 or 4×400 relays.

Friday’s action features the 4×100 finals and the 4×400 prelims (along with several other individual events finals in which collegians did not qualify).

Lineups have not yet been announced for tonight, but you can check out the list of potential collegians who will carry the stick for either 100 or 400 meters tonight.

Please note that anyone who competed in the Olympics for their nation are eligible for relays, but the following individuals are the most likely to compete.
