What to Watch: Collegians in Day Seven of #Rio2016 T&F

NEW ORLEANS – It could be a very good day for Texas in today’s 2016 Rio Olympics track & field action.

The Longhorns’ multiple-time NCAA shot put champ Ryan Crouser (USA) will take to the ring this morning to attempt to qualify for tonight’s final. He’ll be in action against NCAA outdoor champ Filip Mihaljevic of Virginia (Croatia).

The Longhorns could also be represented in the women’s 4×100 relay, with Morolake Akinosun potentially running a leg for Team USA. That event for both the men and women will run qualifying heats today, with numerous collegians set to represent their nations (see below).

Today will also see the conclusion of the decathlon, which currently features NCAA indoor heptathlon champ Zach Ziemek of Wisconsin (USA) in 10th-place.

We’ll also get to see a pair of NCAA champions look to qualify in the women’s high jump with Akela Jones of Kansas State (Barbados) and Leontia Kallenou of Georgia (Cyprus) both in action.

More details on all of the above athletes’ competitions can be found below.
