2017 NJCAA DIII Outdoor Team Rankings – Week 1
NEW ORLEANS — A familiar face and a newcomer lead the way in the men’s and women’s NJCAA Division III Outdoor Team Rankings, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday, as Rowan-Gloucester (N.J.) CC sits atop the men’s side while Kingsborough (N.Y.) CC’s women’s team ranked 1st for the first time in program history.

Rowan-Gloucester (N.J.) CC ranked 1st in all but one week a season ago, and the Roadrunners are off to a solid start this season. Jake Caruso (5000 meters) and Jude Misko (hammer) recorded the top NJCAA Division III marks in their respective events at the Stockton University Invitational a week ago.
The Kingsborough (N.Y) CC women find themselves in 1st after sitting in the top-10 in all but one week since the inception of the NJCAA Division III rankings at the beginning of the 2015 season. But, prior to this week, the highest The Wave has ever placed was 6th. NJCAA Division III Athlete of the Week Tatyana Mills has had a tremendous effect on this week’s rankings, as she posted the top time in the 400 meters in the division at the Florida Relays this last weekend at 54.09. Additionally, she was a part of the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams that posted the top times in NJCAA Division III this past weekend.
Kingsborough (N.Y.) CC’s men’s squad ranks 2nd this week, followed by Howard (Md.) CC, Harper (Ill.) and 2016 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Champions Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC.
On the women’s side, Harper (Ill.), Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC, Howard (Md.) CC and Montgomery-Rockville own the 2nd-5th spots, respectively, in this week’s rankings. Last year’s outdoor champion, Prince George’s (Md.) CC, opens the season in 9th place.
The 2017 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Columbia, Maryland, on May 11-13. Check back at www.USTFCCCA.org each week throughout the season for updated rankings.
