While Rowan-Gloucester (N.J.) and Harper (Ill.) once again remained on top of the men’s and women’s rankings, respectively, a few other teams have begun to make their push towards the top of the pecking order.

Kingsborough (N.Y.) CC’s men’s team returned to 2nd place after sitting in 3rd the last two weeks after some strong outings at the Morgan State Legacy Track & Field Meet. Stephen Cadogan ran a 1:56.59 in the 800 meters for the top mark in the country, while 2 others set top-10 marks on the descending order list.

Two teams on the women’s side helped reshape the top-5 this week in Mohawk Valley (N.Y.) CC and Herkimer County (N.Y.).

Mohawk Valley (N.Y.) CC posted 11 top-10 descending order marks over the week at the Hamilton College Mid-Week Invitational and the Cortland Classic Invitational. Courtney Sherry cleared the top high jump mark on the year at 1.55m (5-1) while Marissa Jones’ time of 57.74 in the 400 meters sits 2nd on the season.

Herkimer County (N.Y.) made history this week, climbing to a program-best 5th after sitting in 9th a week ago. Chyanna Bernier recorded the top mark in the country in the 10000 meters at the Cortland Classic Invitational last week, running a 40:01.75. Gabrielle Bridgewater added the top heptathlon mark on the descending order list as well, scoring 2833 points. Four other top-10 marks were set by the Generals over the weekend.

Harper (Ill.) dropped to 3rd and Onandaga (N.Y.) CC and Howard (Md.) CC remain in 4th and 5th on the men’s side, respectively. Kingsborough (N.Y.) CC’s women’s squad remained in 2nd, while Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC dropped to 4th.

Finger Lakes (N.Y.) CC made a 4-spot leap to 16th on the men’s side thanks to Luke Shively’s decathlon mark of 5138 and his high jump mark of 1.82m (5-11½) at the Cortland Classic Invitational. Those marks rank 2nd and 9th, respectively, on the descending order list.

Other than Herkimer County (N.Y.) on the women’s side, Union County (N.J.) was the only other program to move up more than one spot in the rankings.

The 2017 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Columbia, Maryland, on May 11-13. Check back at www.USTFCCCA.org each week throughout the season for updated rankings.
