NEW ORLEANS – Business is picking up in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index!
With less than two weeks remaining until the start of the 2021 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Levelland, Texas, it’s high time to find out just how much changed when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the Week 6 edition on Wednesday.

Barton County CC surged to the top spot of the National TFRI following its performance at the NJCAA Region VI Championships. The Cougars, who already had a plethora of national top-10 marks, added or improved five to their ledger this past weekend: Shakwon Coke bounded 16.70m (54-9½) for the national lead in the triple jump; Telron Bradford is now ranked fifth in the 400 at 46.69; Tyler Nelson is ranked seventh in the hammer at 49.73m (163-2); Giovanni Gutierrez notched two top-10 marks – one in the shot put (No. 7, 16.08m/52-9¼) and discus (No. 9, 48.44m/158-11).
Iowa Central CC made good use of its time at the NJCAA Region XI Championships. The now second-ranked Tritons added or improved seven national top-10 marks, headlined by a national lead in the 110-meter hurdles by Jaheem Hayles at 13.65. Other top-5 efforts were turned in by James MacKey Jr. in the discus (No. 3, 52.79m/173-2), Aries Scott in the both the decathlon (No. 3, 6087) and long jump (No. 5, 7.45m/24-5½), Jerome Jessup in the 200 (No. 5, 20.81) and the 4×800 relay (No. 5, 7:46.83).
South Plains (Texas) held steady at No. 3, followed by former No. 1 New Mexico JC which dropped three spots to No. 4 and former No. 4 Cloud County CC which fell one spot to No. 5.
