2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field All-America
NEW ORLEANS – All-America honors for the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Student-athletes earned First-Team All-America status by finishing among the top-8 of their events – including as a member of a relay – at the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Eugene, Oregon. Second-Team All-America honors went to those student-athletes who finished between ninth and 16th place.
Honorable mention went to those student-athletes who finished 17th through 24th in their respective events at Hayward Field.
National team titles went back to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with the LSU men and Los Angeles, California, with the Southern California women. It was the fifth national title in program history for the Tigers – first since 2002 – while the Women of Troy topped the podium for the second time in the past three editions of this meet (2018 and 2021).
It should come as no surprise that LSU and Southern California hauled in the most First-Team All-America honors for their respective genders. The Women of Troy led all teams, regardless of gender, with 19 First-Team merits with the Tigers holding down the top of the men’s list with 15.
Six other men’s teams had 10 or more First-Team All-America honors, compared to just two more women’s squads: North Carolina A&T (11), Texas (11), Texas A&M (11), Florida (10), Florida State (10) and Southern California (10) were those men’s teams; Texas (12) and Texas A&M (12) both earned the second-most on the women’s side.
No combined program hauled in more total All-America honors – First-Team and Second-Team – than Southern California with 43. LSU was second in that regard with 36, followed by Texas (32), Texas A&M (27), North Carolina A&T (26), Kentucky (26) and Arkansas (25).
