Cross Country Polls & Rankings
Reigning national champion Joliet (Ill.) JC sits No. 1 to begin the season. The Wolves, who return all six of their athletes from that team, picked up where they left off. JJC most recently took top JUCO honors at the Aurora University Spartan Classic and were led by National Athlete of the Week Tiffany Lehmann, who finished her first run on a 6k course in 25:18.
College of DuPage, which didn’t compete at the 2020 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, holds down the No. 2 spot in 2021. The Chaps opened the season three weeks ago at the Elmhurst Earlybird Invitational and placed fifth with four top-20 finishers.
Georgia Military College, which finished fourth at the 2020 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, sit No. 3 to begin the season. The Bulldogs, who return four athletes from that team, including two top-10 finishers, posted a fifth-place team finish at the GMC Brickyard Invitational two weeks ago with five top-30 finishers in a 73-person race.
Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC, which didn’t compete at the 2020 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, are ranked fourth. The Sharks sent several athletes to the Adelphi Panthers XC Invitational to open the season and then fielded a full squad at the Fred Pavlich Invitational this past weekend and placed third overall behind two four-year programs.
Mohawk Valley (N.Y.) CC, which didn’t compete at the 2020 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, rounds out the top-5 in fifth. The Hawks have not fielded a full team yet this season, but individuals fared well at the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational and the 30th Steve A. Warde Invitational over the first few weeks of the season.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 13, because that’s when the 2021 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia.
