2021 NCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 5
NEW ORLEANS – Calm before the storm? Looks like it.
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for Week 5 of the 2021 season. A slow weekend meant few changes, but a busy weekend will see a lot more changes as teams gear up for the fast-approaching postseason.
Regional Championships Saturday is set for November 13!
East Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the East Region.
MIT and Bates remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 Tufts, No. 4 WPI and No. 5 Brandeis. Tufts sent a full roster to the NEICAAA Championships and finished 10th in a loaded field with NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II programs (Danielle Page led the way with a fourth place finish individually). Look out for some great intra-regional action this weekend as each of those top-5 teams head to the Connecticut College Invitational.
Great Lakes Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Great Lakes Region.
Calvin and Hope remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 John Carroll, No. 4 Allegheny (Pa.) and No. 5 Case Western Reserve. Look for two of these top-5 programs to compete at both the Augustana Invitational (Calvin and Hope) as well as the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble (Case Western Reserve and JCU).
Metro Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Metro Region.
Haverford and Swarthmore remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 TCNJ, No. 4 Ursinus and No. 5 Stockton. Look for a great intra-regional showdown between Haverford, Swarthmore, TCNJ and Ursinus at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle.
Mid-Atlantic Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Johns Hopkins and Dickinson remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 Carnegie Mellon and No. 4 Misericordia and No. 5 Susquehanna. Three of these top-5 programs will compete at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle this weekend: Dickinson, Johns Hopkins and Misericordia.
Mideast Region
There was a small change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Mideast Region.
Williams and Amherst remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 Middlebury and No. 4 RPI, but St. Lawrence jumped one spot to No. 5. While the Saints didn’t compete this past weekend, they impressed at the Mike Woods Invitational with a fifth-place finish. Look for a number of these top-5 programs to compete at the Connecticut College Invitational this weekend.
Midwest Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Midwest Region.
Wartburg and Washington (Mo.) remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 UChicago, No. 4 Loras and No. 5 Elmhurst. Look for a scintillating top-5 matchup at the Augustana Invitational this weekend between No. 1 Wartburg, No. 2 WashU and No. 3 UChicago.
Niagara Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the Niagara Region.
SUNY Geneseo and RIT remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 Rochester (N.Y.) and No. 4 Ithaca and No. 5 NYU. Look for a top-5 regional matchup this weekend as SUNY Geneseo, Rochester (N.Y.) and Ithaca all head to the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle.
North Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the North Region.
UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 Carleton, No. 4 St. Olaf and No. 5 Gustavus Adolphus. Look for a top-5 regional matchup this weekend as UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire and Gustavus Adolphus all compete at the Tori Neubauer Invitational.
South Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the South Region.
Emory and Lynchburg remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 Washington and Lee, No. 4 Christopher Newport and No. 5 Mary Washington. Look for an intra-regional matchup this weekend between No. 2 Lynchburg, No. 3 Washington and Lee and and No. 4 CNU at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle.
West Region
There were no changes to the order of the top-5 teams in the West Region.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 George Fox, No. 4 Colorado College and No. 5 UC Santa Cruz swapped spots. The Athenas ran to victory at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational this past weekend, posting 18 points thanks to sweeping four out of the top-5 scoring spots (CMS also took Nos. 7, 8, 11, 12). Look for a top-5 matchup at the Augustana Invitational between No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 4 Colorado College.
