2022 NJCAA Division III Cross Country National Awards
These awards were voted on by member coaches following the NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships.
National Men’s Athlete of the Year
Nicholas Keeling, College of DuPage (Ill.)
Keeling, who hails from Naperville, Illinois, won the men’s individual title at the 2022 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in 25:36.2. Earlier this season, he won the Region IV Championships in 26:11.5 and Beloit Invitational in 26:07.1 in addition to placing top-5 in two other meets this season.
National Women’s Athlete of the Year
Lydia Smith, SUNY Erie
Smith, who hails from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, won the women’s individual title at the 2022 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in 19:14.3. Earlier this season, she won the Region III Championships in 20:52 and posted multiple other victories, including triumphs at the Meghan Memorial Race as well as the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.
National Men’s Coach of the Year
Robert Cervenka, College of DuPage (Ill.)
Cervenka led DuPage (Ill.) to the men’s team title at the 2022 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with 42 points. The Chaps had individual champion Nicholas Keeling leading another top-10 finisher as all five scorers placed in the top-20. DuPage also won the Region IV Championships with 45 points and won the Beloit Invitational with 19 points.
National Women’s Coach of the Year
Jim Macnider, Harper (Ill.)
Macnider led Harper (Ill.) to the women’s team title at the 2022 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with 52 points. The Hawks were led by third-place finisher Lilly Alberts and two other runners in the top-10 as the margin of victory was just one point. Harper also won the team title at the Region IV Championships with 36 points and the Beloit Invitational with 20 points.
