So, How Are Collegians Doing At #USATFOutdoors?

Rooks Says “Checkmate”

Kenneth Rooks of BYU didn’t let a fall derail his dreams.

Rooks tumbled to the track two laps into the steeplechase final on Saturday night, but regained his form and eventually won the U.S. title with a PR of 8:16.78. He was the first collegian to capture gold in the event since Mark Croghan of Ohio State in 1991.

With that improved PR, Rooks cemented his spot as the No. 7 performer on the all-time, all-dates collegiate chart.

Harris Wins Javelin Title

Maddie Harris of Nebraska picked the right time to PR.

Harris launched the javelin 60.73m (199-3) to win the U.S. title and move up to No. 7 on the all-time, all-dates collegiate chart. She became the first collegian to top the podium since Maggie Malone in 2016 (Malone set the collegiate record at the NCAA DI Outdoor Championships).
