Record-Breaking Start To 2024 Indoor Season

What if we told you 11 collegiate records fell in 2023?

Ten of those tumbled at the 2023 NCAA DI Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Future finalists for The Bowerman – and eventual winners – combined for eight of those: women’s winner Julien Alfred in the 60 meters and 200 meters; Britton Wilson in the 400 meters and 4×400 relay; Jasmine Moore in the long jump and triple jump; men’s winner Jaydon Hibbert in the triple jump; and Kyle Garland in the heptathlon with a near world record.

Fast forward to 2024 and we’re already off to a fast start.

When Yusuf Bizimana of Texas traversed 1000 meters in a CR-setting 2:18.10 and took down a near eight-year-old best, that was the fourth all-time mark to be set in the first six weeks of the season. Bizimana joined Graham Blanks of Harvard and Parker Valby of Florida, who set CRs in the 5000 meters at 13:03.78 and 14:56.11, respectively, back in December, as well as Penn State’s women in the 4×200 relay earlier this past weekend at 1:35.65 (Yes. That’s an indoor event).

Business is about to pick up with several big meets across the nation.
