2024 NJCAA Division II Cross Country Regional Awards

NEW ORLEANS – Here are our Regional Athletes & Coaches of the Year for the 2024 NJCAA DII Cross Country season.

Men’s Athlete of the Year

ATLANTIC REGION — Evan Casterline — Daytona State (Fla.)

Casterline won the individual title at the Region 8 Championships in 26:00.7.

CENTRAL REGION — Luke Kennedy — Wallace State (Ala.) CC

Kennedy won the individual title at the Region 22 Championships in 25:44.5.

GREAT LAKES REGION — Ben March — Lansing (Mich.) CC

March won the individual title at the Region 12 Championships in 26:03.4.

MIDWEST REGION — David Valkanov — Waubonsee (Ill.) CC

Valkanov won the individual title at the Region 4 Championships in 25:48.6.

WEST REGION — Miquel Cruz — Cowley (Kan.)

Cruz won the individual title at the Region 6 Championships in 25:42.8.

Men’s Coach of the Year

ATLANTIC REGION — Judy Wilson — Daytona State (Fla.)

Wilson led the Falcons to the team title at the Region 8 Championships with 18 points.

CENTRAL REGION — Tony Crider — Wallace State (Ala.) CC

Crider led the Lions to the team title at the Region 22 Championships with 16 points.

GREAT LAKES REGION — Jim Robinson — Lansing (Mich.) CC

Robinson led the Stars to the team title at the Region 12 Championships with 21 points.

MIDWEST REGION — Michael Melchert — Des Moines Area (Iowa) CC

Melchert led the Bears to the team title at the Region 11 Championships with 15 points.

WEST REGION — Dave Barney — Paradise Valley (Ariz.) CC

Barney led the Pumas to the team title at the Region 1 Championships with 22 points.

Women’s Athlete of the Year

ATLANTIC REGION — Emelyn Lacour — Pasco-Hernando (Fla.)

Lacour won the individual title at the Region 8 Championships in 19:41.9.

CENTRAL REGION — Miriam Dominquez-Tellez — Shelton State (Ala.) CC

Dominquez-Tellez won the individual title at the Region 22 Championships in 19:35.2.

GREAT LAKES REGION — Daisy Speet — Lansing (Mich.) CC

Speet won the individual title at the Region 12 Championships in 18:36.8.

MIDWEST REGION — Nora Brady — Heartland (Ill.) CC

Brady won the individual title at the Region 24 Championships in 17:27.

WEST REGION — Darcy Vineyard — UA Rich Mountain (Ark.)

Vineyard won the individual title at the Region 2 Championships in 18:45.6.

Women’s Coach of the Year

ATLANTIC REGION — Jacki Waller — Pasco-Hernando (Fla.)

Waller led the Bobcats to the team title at the Region 8 Championships with 35 points.

CENTRAL REGION — Tony Crider — Wallace State (Ala.) CC

Crider led the Lions to the team title at the Region 22 Championships with 32 points.

GREAT LAKES REGION — Sharon Becker — Grand Rapids (Mich.) CC

Becker led the Raiders to the team title at the Region 12 Championships with 42 points.

MIDWEST REGION — Michael Melchert — Des Moines Area (Iowa) CC

Melchert led the Bears to the team title at the Region 11 Championships with 19 points.

WEST REGION — Dan Pescador — Mesa (Ariz.) CC

Pescador led the Thunderbirds to the team title at the Region 1 Championships with 27 points.
