2020 NJCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 4
NEW ORLEANS – If you’re looking for the best individuals at the JUCO ranks this season, all but two are on teams that remained in the top-5 of the Week 4 NJCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rating Index that was released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Four of the programs have been at the top all year, and two of them provided the only change to this week’s top-5. South Plains (Texas) moved up to No. 3, pushing Barton (Kan.) CC to No. 4. Those are the same positions that the teams were at in Week 1.
The 2020 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships are just two weeks away on March 6-7 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

New Mexico JC continues to dominate the ratings, as the Thunderbirds lead the nation in eight events – twice as many as the next closest program. Flomena Asekol is responsible for three individually (800, 1000 and mile) as well as being part of the 4×800 and distance medley relay teams. Also leading the country from NMJC are Demisha Roswell (60 hurdles), Victoria Villanueva (pole vault) and Susan Francis (long jump).
Continuing at No. 2 is Iowa Central CC, and the Tritons have a pair of national leaders in Eleonora Curtabbi (3000) and Lea Grady (weight throw).
South Plains is at No. 3 and has the second-most event leaders with four. Rosemary Chukwuma leads the 60 for the Texans and is tied for the lead in 200, and Gladys Jemaiyo (5000) and Onaara Obamuwagun (triple jump) also have national-leading marks.
Barton (Kan.) CC, the defending champions, follow at No. 4. The Cougars are on top in three events – the 400 with Christal Mosley, shot put with Fiona Richards and the 4×400 relay.
Holding at No. 5 after joining the top-5 for the first time last week is Cloud County (Kan.) CC. The T-Birds lead the country in the pentathlon with Maryse Mbenoun and have a share of the 200 best with Mercy Ntia-Obong.
The other two national leaders are Breanna Brown-Marshall of No. 14 Hinds (Miss.) CC in the high jump and Joanna Archer of No. 6 Monroe-New Rochelle (N.Y.) in the 600.
Following Monroe to round out the top-10 teams are No. 7 Iowa Western CC, No. 8 Bryant & Stratton (Va.), No. 9 Butler (Kan.) CC and No. 10 Mesa (Ariz.) CC.
