2020 NJCAA DII Women’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 4

NEW ORLEANS – All was mostly quiet on the NJCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll front between Week 3 and Week 4.

Very little changed to the most recent index that was released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), meaning Cowley (Kan.) CC stills holds down the top spot and is followed by No. 2 Heartland (Ill.) CC, No. 3 Hawkeye (Iowa) CC, No. 4 Grand Rapids (Mich.) CC and No. 5 St. Clair County (Mich.) CC.

Cross Country Polls & Rankings

Cowley (Kan.) CC proved why it’s the No. 1 team in the nation this past weekend as it dominated the Bethel College Invitational. The Tigers, led by an individual title from two-time National Athlete of the Week Lubna Suied, put five runners in the top-10 and scored 26 points.

Heartland (Ill.) CC posted its own strong performance this past weekend at the Topper Town Invitational. The Hawks sent four runners across the finish line in the top-5 spots and totaled just 22 points to beat now eighth-ranked Kaskaskia (Ill.) by 44 points. Olivia Boyd and Payton Wille took second and third individually and were separated by just one second.

Hawkeye (Iowa) CC had a breakthrough effort this past weekend, taking runner-up honors at the Indian Hills Invitational behind NCAA Division II Missouri Western and in front of three vaunted NJCAA Division I programs – Iowa Western CC, Iowa Central CC and Indian Hills CC. Ryann Portch paced the RedTails in fifth place individually as she was one of three in the top-15.

Grand Rapids (Mich.) CC and St. Clair County (Mich.) CC raced against each other at the Jayhawk Invitational this past weekend. The Raiders took top JUCO honors as they finished third as a team, right in front of the Skippers in fourth. SCCCC put together a strong race with a 57-second spread between its top-5 runners (GRCC came in at 1:21).

Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 4: No. 6 Wallace State (Ala.), No. 7 UA (Ark.) Rich Mountain, No. 8 Kaskaskia (Ill.), No. 9 Jackson (Mich.) CC and No. 10 Pasco-Hernando (Fla.).
