Men’s Story
Arkansas is the John McDonnell Men’s Program of the Year.
You can’t script it any better.
The Razorbacks were tied with Northern Arizona after the indoor season with six POY points – and Oklahoma State wasn’t too far behind with eight. Then, Arkansas posted a seventh-place finish outdoors, while both the Cowboys and Lumberjacks finished outside the top-20. That sent the Razorbacks to a comfortable 16.5-point victory over NAU and dropped OSU to third.
This is Arkansas’s fourth time being named John McDonnell Men’s Program of the Year. The Razorbacks earned the prestigious honor following the 2013, 2017 and 2021 academic years.
Texas finished a close fourth behind Oklahoma State, while North Carolina and Wisconsin tied for fifth.
Women’s Story
Consistency paid off for Florida.
The Gators, who finished no worse than fifth at any of the three NCAA Championships, were named Terry Crawford Women’s Program of the Year for the first time in program history. Florida was fifth in cross country and then posted back-to-back runner-up efforts in track & field. The Gators had only been top-3 in the final standings of this award once before in 2010.
Arkansas, which took home this prestigious honor in each of the past two years, is second. The Razorbacks won back-to-back titles in track & field following a ninth-place finish on the grass circuit. Arkansas has only finished outside the top-3 of this award once since 2013.
Oregon, a ten-time honoree, finished third with 18 POY points, seven behind Arkansas and nine behind Florida. The Ducks were one of three women’s programs to post three top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships this year. Oregon was tenth in cross country and fourth in both indoor and outdoor track & field.
Oklahoma State and Alabama ended up in a fourth-place tie with 25.5 POY points.
