Originally from Ethiopia, Bati was a 5-time NCAA Champion and 14-time All American. A 1998 graduate of Augustana, Bati won national titles twice in the indoor 5000m (1995, 1996), once outdoors in the 1500m (1995) and outdoors in the 5000m and 10,000m (1996). His All American honors include three from Cross Country, four from Indoors and seven from Outdoors. At his conference, Bati earned nine CCIW titles from 800m to 10,000m. In 1996 he won the 1500, 5000 and 10,000 at the CCIW meet and was named the “Most Outstanding Performer”.
