Erik Vance was named the National Men’s Coach of the Year for the 2022 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season. Vance, in his sixth year at South Plains (Texas), led the Texans to the team title at the NJCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas. SPC won going away, as it compiled 104 points, 19 more than runner-up Iowa Western CC. The Texans captured five event titles and a slew of All-America honors. SPC topped the National TFRI all season long and entered the NJCAA Championships with No. 1 marks in seven events.
