Joseph Kalnas was named the National Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2022 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Kalnas, in his 17th year at Rowan-Gloucester (N.J.) CC, guided the Roadrunners to a remarkable showing at the NJCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. His throwers were responsible for 77 of the team’s 111 points at the meet. Kara Knorr, his prized pupil, won three different events (hammer, javelin and shot put) and took runner-up honors in a fourth (discus). During the regular season, Kalnas’ athletes dotted the top of the Descending Order List, especially in the javelin, where they were Nos. 1, 5, 6 and 8.
