Laney Vecchio was named the 2025 NJCAA DIII Women’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Year. Vecchio, who hails from Williamstown, New Jersey, captured the individual title at the 2025 NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.) star crossed the finish line in 20:20.5, more than 12 seconds faster than the runner-up. It was the second win in two races this season for Vecchio, whose only other contest this season came in winning the Region 19 Championships two weeks earlier.
