Wilkinson, who hails from Greenwood, Minnesota, was named the National Men’s Track Athlete of the Year. He notched four all-time marks during the season with two of them coming at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. First, Wilkinson won the steeplechase in 8:47.39, which was the seventh-fastest performance in NCAA DIII history (That was a tick slower than his 8:44.01 effort to win the same event at the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships that ranks third on the all-time chart). Then, Wilkinson won the 5000 in 13:55.27, which barely missed the meet record by 0.27 seconds and left him with the fourth-fastest mark in NCAA DIII history (Earlier in the season, he went 13:58.25 for the seventh-fastest performance on that same chart).
