Pomainville, who hails from Malone, New York, was named the National Women’s Track Athlete of the Year. She made sure that the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships wouldn’t go without a record early on. Pomainville went out hard from the gun in the prelims of the 1500 on Thursday and took down both the division and meet record in the event with her 4:13.69. Later in the meet, she’d cruise to that national title and finish runner-up in the 800, an event in which she is the fourth-fastest performer in NCAA DIII history. During the regular season, Pomainville put her name all over the Descending Order List, ranking in the top-3 of three different individual events (800-1500-5K) and one relay (4×400).
