Oregon Continues to Top Division I Men’s XC Poll
NEW ORLEANS – The Oregon Ducks continue their impressive reign as the No. 1 ranked team in Division I men’s cross country as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the men’s top 30 on Tuesday. Oregon, which received 11 first place votes this week, has remained atop the polls since the preseason.
The Ducks are one of the six men’s teams not competing this coming weekend at the Pre-Nationals event hosted by Indiana State. Instead, the Ducks will travel in-state to Clackamas Community College for the Mike Hodges Invitational.
Second-ranked Oklahoma State, third-ranked Colorado, and fourth-ranked Portland will make the trip to Terre Haute for the Pre-National meet. No. 5 Wisconsin travels to La Crosse.
No. 6 Alabama and No. 7 Iona will head to Terre Haute, while No. 8 Georgetown will travel up to Penn State for the Penn State National this weekend. All told, the Pre-Nationals event will feature 24 of the men’s top 30.
No. 27 Arkansas will be hosting another big meet this weekend; the Chile Pepper Festival.
The 2008 Division I Cross Country National meet will be held on November 24th, 2008 and hosted by Indiana State University.
The voting panel for the USTFCCCA Division I Men’s National Poll consists of the elected executive committee and regional representatives of the USTFCCCA and is conducted by Don Kopriva.
