INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet announced today (April 24) that Indiana State University and Terre Haute have been chosen to serve as host of the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships, November 22, 2010, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.
The 2010 championships will mark the eighth time in which the university has hosted the event. ISU hosted its first championship in 2002, before the meet was hosted by fellow Missouri Valley Conference member Northern Iowa in 2003. The championship returned to Terre Haute in 2004 and has been held there each year since, including the 2009 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship set for November 23 at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.
"Being awarded the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the eighth time is a real testament to the quality of our staff, our coaches and also our community and their hard work in hosting this event," Indiana State Director of Athletics Ron Prettyman said. "It’s certainly a boost for the visibility of our university and a great opportunity for our community to gain from it as well with the increased revenue brought in because of the event. We’re proud that we’ve been offered this opportunity again and look forward to hosting in 2009, 2010 and for many years to come."
