No Changes to Men’s Division III XC Top Ten

NEW ORLEANS (September 9, 2009) – North Central College remained the No. 1 team in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men’s Cross Country Top 35 Coaches’ Poll as did the rest of the men’s top ten, the USTFCCCA announced Wednesday. North Central received all but one of the eight first-place votes and earned 279 total points.
The Cardinals opened its 2009 season in impressive fashion over the weekend dominating the competition at the Elmhurst Early Bird Invitational. North Central claimed the top six spots at the meet en route to a perfect score of 15 points.
Wisconsin La Crosse remained second in this week’s poll with 270 total points. The Eagles were in action this weekend competing in their Alumni challenge. UW La Crosse heads to Luther College for the 38th Annual All-American Invitational this weekend.
Third-ranked Cortland State and fourth-ranked Williams College were idle over the weekend. Cortland will open the 2009 season by traveling to Oswego, New York for the Oswego Laker Invitational, while Williams will host the Williams College Coed Relays.
Completing the top five for the men is Geneseo State. The Blue Knights opened their season on the road at the Buffalo State Daniel Walker Invitational. Geneseo finished third overall as a team at the meet.
