Women’s Division II Cross Country Top Five Unchanged in Week 1

NEW ORLEANS (September 16, 2009) – The women’s top five teams went unchanged in week one of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women’s Cross Country Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, the USTFCCCA announced Wednesday.
Adams State was idle over the weekend but competed in the Joe Vigil Invitational on September 5, dominating the event for their first win of the 2009 season. The Grizzlies will be back in action on September 18 as the team travels to Colorado State.
Grand Valley State follows the Grizzlies at No. 2 and was also idle over the weekend. The Lakers will travel to the Michigan State Spartan Invitational this weekend. Seattle Pacific is again ranked third this week in the women’s poll. SPU was the lone team in the top five to compete over the weekend running in the Apple Ridge Preview at Central Washington. SPU will remain in Washington this weekend for the Sundodger Invitational.
Shippensburg is ranked fourth followed by Augustana (South Dakota) rounding out the women’s top five. Both Shippensburg and Augustana were idle this past weekend. Shippensburg gets back on the course this Friday at the Mansfield Invitational while Augustana returns to action next on September 26 at the Minnesota Roy Griak Invite.
