            Lynn, Dibbern Earn Assistant Coach of the Year Titles in Division II
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Friday that Joe Lynn of Grand Valley State and Tom Dibbern of Angelo State were named the National Assistant Coaches of the Year for Outdoor Track & Field in Division II as voted by the nation’s coaches.
NATIONAL MEN’S ASSISTANT COACH OF THE YEAR: Joe Lynn, Grand Valley State
Lynn, in his fourth year at Grand Valley State, led his distance athletes to 88 points in helping the Lakers to a GLIAC title. The Lakers swept the top three spots in the steeplechase and the 1-2-5-6 spots in the 5000 at the league meet. Lynn’s distance crew accounted for three of the Lakers’ entries for the NCAA Championships, two of which were in the steeplechase. Tyler Emmorey went on to place sixth at the national championships in the event.

NATIONAL WOMEN’S ASSISTANT COACH OF THE YEAR: Tom Dibbern, Angelo State
Dibbern, in his sixth year at Angelo State, coached the Rambelles heptathletes and field event athletes to 36 points at last weekend’s NCAA Championships, leading the charge for Angelo State’s first NCAA team title. Aisha Adams and Chrysal Ruiz went 1-2 in the heptathlon as Adams won her second-straight national heptathlon title. Ruiz also claimed a sixth-place position in the long jump while Adams was also third in the long jump, fourth in the triple jump, and fifth in the high jump at the national meet. Adams also scored Division II’s all-time best heptathlon with a 5,795-point effort at the Texas Relays. Dibbern has won this award for the second-consecutive year.
