National-Championship Winning Coaches Williams, Reid are D-II Coaches of the Year

EUGENE, Ore. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Thursday that George Williams of Saint Augustine’s and James Reid of Angelo State were named the National Head Coaches of the Year for Outdoor Track & Field in Division II as voted by the nation’s coaches.

NATIONAL MEN’S HEAD COACH OF THE YEAR: George Williams, Saint Augustine’s

Williams, in his 30th year at Saint Augustine’s, led the Falcons to their second-straight NCAA crown and 11th overall outdoor national title. With 82 points and five event champions, the Falcons took the spot over Abilene Christian who scored 62. Earlier in the year, the Falcons won the CIAA Championship for the 12th time in 13 seasons, winning nine of 17 contested events at the championship meet.

NATIONAL WOMEN’S HEAD COACH OF THE YEAR: James Reid, Angelo State

Reid, in his 11th year at the helm at Angelo State, led the Rambelles to their first NCAA outdoor title, as his squad scored 87 points and three event champions. Earlier in the season, Angelo State was the Lone Star Conference champion and garnered 11 event titles in the league meet.
