Kevin LaSure Elevated To USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Track & Field President
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is pleased to announce that Kevin LaSure of Academy of Art University has been elevated to President of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Executive Committee.
LaSure was appointed to his position at the 2017 USTFCCCA Convention in Phoenix and replaces outgoing President Ryan Dall of Texas A&M-Kingsville, who served from 2015 until now.
This is the first time since 2010-11 that a minority member has served as President of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Executive Committee. Christopher Asher of Cal State Los Angeles was the President of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Executive Committee from 2008 to 2011.
Prior to him becoming President, LaSure served as 1st Vice President to Dall from 2015 to 2017, Track & Field Secretary from 2014 to 2015 and as the Track & Field Representative for the Northeast-10 Conference from 2011 to 2014.
LaSure has also served on the NCAA Division II Executive Council from 2014 to the present day, as Chair of the NCAA Division II Hall of Fame Committee from 2015 to 2017 and as a member of the NCAA Division II Law & Legislation Committee from 2014 to 2015.
As a coach, LaSure enters his third year as the leader of the Urban Knights’ track & field program. During the 2017 track & field campaign, Academy of Art University had great success with LaSure at the helm as the team set a total of 19 school records, won three NCAA individual titles – all from Mobolade Ajomale – and earned 13 All-America honors.
