Arkansas claimed three of the four Scholar Team of the Year awards, with its men sweeping both the indoor and outdoor awards and its national champion women taking the indoor honor. Outdoor national women’s team champion Oregon earned the outdoor women’s award.
As the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.00 cumulative team grade point average at this season’s indoor and/or outdoor NCAA Division I Championships, these teams stood out among 224 women’s teams and 123 men’s programs that combined academic and athletic achievement to earn All-Academic Team honors this season.
The full list of All-Academic Teams can be found below.
Arkansas’ men checked in with a cumulative team grade points average of 3.02 to finish the 2014-15 campaign – a season that saw the Razorbacks finish third in the team standings at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships. The women’s program has now three times earned Scholar Team of the Year honors for track & field, but these two are the first for the men’s program.
The women earned their third indoor honor in the past four seasons on the strength of their first-ever national team title. Led by Dominique Scott and female indoor field Scholar Athlete of the Year Sandi Morris, the Razorbacks scored 63 points to topple five-time defending national champion Oregon by 16½.
Twelve Arkansas women and nine Razorback men earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual honors.
Oregon’s women may have seen their streak of NCAA Indoor titles end, but the Ducks claimed their first outdoor national crown since 1985 and earned their first-ever Scholar Team of the Year honors in track & field along the way with a cumulative team GPA of 3.19.
The Ducks scored 59 points at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to defeat runner-up Kentucky by nine.
Nine is also the number of Oregon women who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, including the meet’s high-point scorer in Jenna Prandini.
