2019 USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Track & Field Academic Team Awards
NEW ORLEANS – Scholar Teams of the Year and All-Academic Team honors for the 2018-19 NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field seasons were announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Programs that stood out the most during competition also handled business in the classroom as the Florida men and Arkansas women were named both the Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year for their respective genders.
In order to be in contention for Scholar Team of the Year, a program must finish highly at the respective national championship meet and have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.

This is the fourth time in award history – which dates back to 2007 – that the same teams were honored for their excellence during both the indoor and outdoor season: Stanford’s men and Arizona State’s women in 2007; Tennessee’s men and Arkansas’ women in 2016; Texas A&M’s men and Georgia’s women in 2017.
Florida put together an incredible year alongside a 3.16 cumulative GPA as it won the men’s indoor team title by 11 points over Houston and finished runner-up to Texas Tech outdoors.
This is the fourth time that the Gators have been named Men’s Indoor Scholar Team of the Year and the second time that they’ve won back-to-back honors. Florida also now has three Men’s Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year honors to pair with those as well.
Arkansas asserted its dominance both indoors and outdoors, winning national team titles during each season. The Razorbacks, who had a cumulative GPA of 3.423, ran away with the indoor crown, while they had tough competition from Southern California outdoors.
This is the fifth time that Arkansas has been named Women’s Indoor Scholar Team of the Year, compared to just the second time outdoors. The Razorbacks have been named Scholar Team of the Year for track & field more times than any other women’s program in award history.
All-Academic Teams
All told, 366 teams were honored by the USTFCCCA for their academics.
Breaking it down further, 227 of those were women’s teams compared to 139 men’s programs.
The women’s program from South Dakota State had the highest cumulative GPA out of any NCAA DI program at 3.684. That narrowly topped the women from Lipscomb, who hauled in a cumulative team GPA of 3.676.
The men’s program with the highest cumulative GPA was Harvard at 3.55.
